Wharfedale Diamond 12.2i Bookshelf Speakers

The Wharfedale Diamond 12.2i is the largest bookshelf speaker in the ‘12i Series’ range and is suited to medium to larger rooms where the 6.5” mid/bass driver can really strut its stuff. This 12i range is all about incremental updates to the cabinet construction and sound quality accompanied by three great looking new finishes.

The Diamond 12.2i is definitely going to compete with its bookshelf siblings to be the best seller in the range because of the stunning performance it offers for the price. Compact enough to not dominate a room yet with fire power enough to fill medium to larger spaces, this is a prime candidate for consideration no matter what the circumstance. The Diamond 12.2i employs a smooth sounding 1” (25mm) textile dome tweeter and a large 6.5” (165mm) mid/ bass driver constructed of a new material called Klarity™ which combines traditional polypropylene with mica for added strength and a level of clarity and energy which is truly refreshing.

Developed in Cambridgeshire, England since 1982, Wharfedale’s famous Diamond speakers have served as the classic entry point to true high-fidelity sound, their exceptional sonic value for money earning numerous ‘product of the year’ accolades in the UK and around the world. With the introduction of the all-new Diamond 12 Series, Wharfedale once again raises the bar for affordable, high-performance loudspeakers.

A Design Legacy — Now with a Contemporary Edge

The Diamond 12 Series raised the bar in its category for sound quality, design, and musical engagement. Now, Wharfedale’s in-house team has further developed the series, focusing not on reinventing but on refining and improving.

The series now includes three beautiful new finishes that complement modern interiors:

  • All-Black: A deep, rich semi-matte finish that offers a sleek, contemporary look—subtle and sophisticated.
  • Classic Walnut with Semi-Matte Black Baffle: A timeless classic reimagined, blending the natural warmth of walnut with a clean, contrasting baffle for a premium appearance.
  • Stone Grey: A striking modern option that suits minimalist styles and stands out.

Known for quality, affordability, and exceptional build quality, the Wharfedale Diamond series has always prioritised fit and finish. The new luxurious finishes enhance the loudspeaker’s premium look and feel, matching its impressive sound performance.

Incremental Acoustic Enhancements

Along with the aesthetic upgrade, Wharfedale’s engineering team revisited the speaker’s internals, paying special attention to bass port tuning and airflow control. Small but significant changes to the port design and internal damping have improved bass clarity and low-frequency control - especially in real-world environments. Listeners will notice the difference.

A thorough port design effort led by Wharfedale’s Director of Acoustic Design, Peter Comeau, and senior engineers Dan Bailey Ornellas and Oliver Davies aimed to refine low-frequency performance through extensive empirical testing and listening evaluations. The development process lasted several months and included advanced techniques, such as laser interferometry, extensive anechoic and in-room measurements, and computational fluid dynamics (CFD) to assess airflow and pressure in the port structure. Critical listening sessions - totalling hundreds of hours - were held to confirm the results. The outcome is a bass response that is better controlled and more articulate, with improved transitions between low and mid frequencies and consistent spatial performance, no matter the placement. These changes maintain the Diamond 12’s signature neutrality while subtly increasing listener engagement and dynamic flow.

At the Core: Klarity™ Cone Technology

The Diamond 12i mid/bass driver cones remain unchanged and are made from Klarity™, a special blend of polypropylene and mica that provides excellent stiffness and low distortion. This results in a cone that is lightweight, well-damped, and very responsive, delivering natural, expressive dynamics and precise transient response.

A low-damping surround enhances the cone’s efficiency and dynamic range, while ribbed shaping and profile simulation ensure a smooth, linear frequency response without added distortion.

Advanced Magnet Assembly

Each mid/bass driver features a precise magnet system with an aluminium compensation ring to reduce the effects of inductance changes as the voice coil moves. This advanced motor system minimises intermodulation and distortion, producing cleaner, more accurate sound.

The voice coil is wrapped around a high-power epoxy/glass fibre bobbin, which performs significantly better than standard materials at this price point, offering greater power handling, thermal stability, and structural strength.

25 mm Textile Dome Tweeter

High frequencies are produced by a 25 mm woven polyester dome with a high-loss damping coating, resulting in extended, smooth treble response. The front plate is designed acoustically with a flat profile and minimal waveguide to enhance dispersion and output. The result is clear, natural high frequencies with excellent off-axis performance.

High-Quality Crossover Components

Wharfedale’s engineers use a sophisticated Linkwitz-Riley crossover design, complete with air-core inductors—components typically found in high-end speakers. The crossover network is finely adjusted for minimal phase shift and smooth integration between drivers.

The magnet structure for the mid/bass driver is modified to address the resistance of these high-quality inductors, ensuring fast, clean bass without compromise.

Low-Resonance Cabinet Design

Each enclosure features a multi-layered sandwich construction that reduces panel resonance and distortion. Even the adhesive properties between the layers have been acoustically tested to optimise damping.

Inside, intelligent spot bracing connects opposite cabinet walls using computer-modelled braces that reduce vibration without passing it from one surface to another. This contributes to the solid and authoritative sound signature of the Diamond 12i series.

Preserve the Essence, Perfect the Experience

Overall, the new Diamond 12i series is sure to impress. The changes may seem minor, but the impact is significant. It looks, feels, and performs like something new because it is. Yet, it still retains all of the qualities that made the original iteration so special!

Why Choose The Wharfedale Diamond 12.2i?

The Wharfedale Diamond 12.2i speakers are the big hitters of the 12i bookshelf line-up, and they wear that title with confidence. With a 6.5” Klarity™ mid/bass driver ready to properly stretch its legs, these are compact stand mounts that can genuinely fill a medium to larger room without breaking a sweat. The magic is in the detail: that polypropylene-and-mica cone is light, stiff and beautifully controlled, backed by a serious magnet assembly and a properly engineered Linkwitz-Riley crossover with air-core inductors that you’d usually expect at a higher price point. Then there’s the subtle but meaningful port and damping refinements - months of testing, CFD modelling and marathon listening sessions - all translating into bass that’s tighter, cleaner and more articulate in real-world rooms. The 25 mm textile dome tweeter keeps things smooth and open up top, while the low-resonance cabinet and new finishes (All-Black, Classic Walnut with black baffle, and Stone Grey) give them a contemporary edge that looks as sharp as they sound. True to Wharfedale’s long-running Diamond legacy, the 12.2i doesn’t try to reinvent the formula - it just perfects it, and at this level, that’s seriously impressive.

4 for world
Format: Kindle
So I’m giving a 4 Star more so probably because I love the world and the original shatter me series. This particular book was fine it wasn’t bad but I also felt like nothing really happened either. If that makes sense. I don’t regret reading or buying at all but just wished more happened within the story. Still obsessed with its Warner and Ella love theme 🥰

Great sequel
Format: Kindle
I liked that this book was fast paced and more background for the main characters was provided. I love the voice of this author as it is poetic, honest, and stirring. It drags a little bit towards the end but otherwise it is pretty good!

No plot or character progression.....
Format: Hardcover
Tahereh Mafi’s Release Me was a very mixed reading experience for me, landing at a solid 3 stars overall. While the book is undeniably entertaining and packed with action, it also suffers from major pacing and development issues that kept me from fully connecting with the story. The biggest highlight, without question, was the return of the original characters. Kenji and Warner absolutely carried this book from beginning to end. Their banter, personalities, and presence brought back the charm and emotional attachment that made the original series so addictive. Every scene involving them felt comforting and familiar, almost like coming home after being away for a long time. Juliette’s appearances and the dynamic between the older cast members were easily the strongest aspects of the novel. Unfortunately, I struggled heavily with Rosabelle and James. Their relationship felt repetitive and emotionally stagnant, with so much focus placed on their “doomed” and forbidden romance that it often overshadowed the larger conflict happening around them. There was constant back-and-forth between Rosabelle trying to escape, James making frustrating decisions, and Warner cleaning up the chaos. At times, it genuinely felt like the plot was moving in circles. What makes this book frustrating is that so much technically happens, yet by the end it somehow feels like nothing truly changed. Character arcs barely progressed, relationships remained in the exact same place they started, and several storylines felt oddly untouched. Juliette is still pregnant, we still know very little about what comes next for many of the characters, and even fan-favorite dynamics like Kenji and Nazeera barely received meaningful development. That said, I can’t deny that the book was compulsively readable. There were moments where I genuinely could not put it down because the pacing and action kept things moving quickly. The dialogue and humor between the characters carried much of the entertainment value, and the nostalgia factor played a huge role in keeping me invested. If I hadn’t already loved these characters from previous books, though, I honestly don’t think this story would have worked nearly as well for me. Ultimately, Release Me feels like the definition of “no plot, just vibes.” It’s entertaining, nostalgic, and full of beloved characters, but lacks the meaningful progression and emotional payoff I was hoping for. Fans of the original series will likely still enjoy revisiting this world, but readers looking for strong plot advancement or major character growth may leave feeling a little unsatisfied.

Perfect plumper for under eyes.
Color: Collagen
I absolutely love the moisturizing effect these have under my eyes. My undereye skin appears plumper making the fine lines show less for at least 5 hours. The skin also feels much softer. These are absolutely a great value for the money. I will be buying these again. Perfect for a morning you wake up with puffy eyes and need to get put together quick because they made my eyes look amazingly rested and took all the puffiness away in 10 mins.

I really like this product!
Color: Collagen
I tried these eye patches that stick right under the eyes, and overall they’re really convenient and easy to use. They adhere well to the skin without sliding around, which makes it simple to wear them while relaxing or getting ready. After using them, my under-eye area felt more hydrated and looked a bit brighter and less puffy. The cooling effect was also soothing, especially when I kept them in the fridge before applying. They didn’t cause any irritation, which is a big plus for sensitive skin.
